Committee
Nottingham Korfball club administration is carried out by an elected committee. This committee is elected each year by the members at the AGM.
President - Esther Knight-Terlouw
Esther started playing korfball - well - from birth really, as born into a korfball family in Holland. She has played Premiership league in the Netherlands as a Junior and Reserve Hoofdklasse as an Adult before joining the Erasmus University korfball Club. Whilst organising the European University Championships Korfball, she met Alistair Knight. Since then she moved to the UK and set up her own little korfball family with the GB player. Joining Nottingham korfball Club 8 years ago she has always been active as a player, a secretary, a treasurer and even as a coach whilst heavily pregnant. As no-one really dared to take in the president role tis season, she thought she might as well add it to her list.
Secretary - Alison Birch
We are happy to keep Ali as our secretary in our committee. She started korfball at Nottingham University 4 seasons ago and made the change to us last season - winning the most improved female award 2 seasons ago and we are expecting more to come. As a teacher by profession we expect immaculate grammar and creative writing…oh dear… she’s a science teacher
Treasurer - Alistair Knight
Alistair started playing korfball in 1998 when a friend told him it was a ‘great way to meet girls‘. Since then he met a Dutch korfball girl, got married and made a korfball baby. He as well has represented Great Britain several times and has been in the first team squad since 2003. In between obtaining a degree in Business Economics and Accountancy he also studied IT, so should be perfectly capable of keeping looking after our website. Being Scottish and married to a Dutchie he should be able to keep a ‘tight budget’.
Junior Officer - Kathy Shaw
One of our oldest ‘home grown’ korfballers. Kathy has shown great dedication with over a decade to korfball and is almost solely responsible for the junior recruitment and organisation. She is also one of the founder members of this great club. Being a school teacher and having reproduced a couple of juniors herself she is cut out for this job and Nottingham KC would be no where without her endless dedication!
Match Secretary - Helen Bigley
Helen started at Nottingham University and joined NKC 5 years ago. Since then she has been a solid National League player. She helped set up rival Nottingham Magic Korfball Club with amongst others now new hubbie Mr Buttinger. Luckily for us she is using her organisational skills this season for her own club again and is continuing in the important role of Match Secretary.
Coaching and Refereeing Officer - Samantha Whittaker
Sam is a well known face within korfball-land. She joined our club 4 seasons ago, after having played for Sheffield University, Cambridge Tigers, GB students in the World Cup 2005 and Manchester Warriors. She is also one of the co-founders of Magic Korfball. On top of this she represents the force and the law, hence with this background and being a qualified coach herself, she is cut-out for the job.
Social Secretary - Vicky Wright
Vicky is another ‘home grown’ Nottingham Korfball player and well known in korfball land for organising the Nottingham Outlawz team, attending virtually every korfball tournament and organising her own crazy party occasionally as well. With her background in nursing we are expecting a healthy social life for Nottingham Korfball Club members this season.
Registration , Warm up and Equipment Officer - Rob Mann
No club in the UK has a ‘Warm up Officer’, but then again, no club in the UK has a Rob Mann. Rob is another ‘home grown’ korfballer and has been representing the Great Britain team as well for the last 4 years. With his ”Gok Wan’ - eye-for-a-straight-guy’ he changing our kit. Being probably the fittest boy on the block, we expect he will whoop us into shape whilst making sure we will have the tools and outfits to do so.
Development Officer - Fiona Cleland
Fiona started korfball only a season ago, but has quickly become a familiar face on the scene and has taken on the role of Development Officer. Having recruited quite a number of players already things are looking well and with her background in design we are expecting even more.
